Clarks Creek Greenway Trail

Clarks Creek Greenway Trail is closed between Colvard Park Way and St Audrey Place due to structural bridge damage from a fallen tree. Updates will be posted to this page.

February 2025 Update: A structural assessment has been completed to determine that the existing bridge abutments can be used for the replacement bridge. Bridge fabrication should take a minimum of 16 weeks and additional time is needed to hire a contractor to assemble and install the bridge. MCPR's goal is to reopen the bridge in Fall of 2025, pending fabrication and/or construction delays.

Little Sugar Creek Greenway (Midtown)

Due to adjacent development, there will be scaffolding over the greenway trail for approximately 2 years, which will require a bicycle dismount zone. A trail detour will remain in place during the construction. Intermittent closures may occur during construction if necessary for user safety.

McDowell Creek Greenway (Westmoreland Park)

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has begun preliminary work on the Northcross Drive Extension, resulting in detours along the McDowell Creek Greenway.

U-5108 NDE -Sidewalk-Greenway Detour - Phase I
The completed project will connect the existing Northcross Drive north from its current terminus off NC 73 (near the Huntersville CATS Park and Ride), through currently vacant land, and will join with the existing Eagle Ridge Way. The extension will end in a newly constructed roundabout on Westmoreland Road. Once the road is completed, the Town of Cornelius has plans to expand both the passive and active recreational amenities of Robbins Park, establishing a park entrance off the new road. Proposed new amenities include wildlife viewing areas, 5K cross country trail, open play areas, athletic fields and courts, and a redesigned disc golf course.

Meanwhile, be aware that barricades and detour signs are being installed as work progresses, and at times will block the portion of McDowell Creek Greenway between Preserve Pond Road and Westmoreland Road. Please exercise caution while in this area.
