Fair Housing Equity Plan

The City of Grand Rapids is developing a Fair Housing Equity Plan (FHEP) to identify barriers to fair housing choice and action steps to address them. The FHEP will analyze the following:

Patterns of segregation and integration
Resident access to community assets, affordable housing, and homeownership opportunities
Issues related to housing accessibility among residents with disabilities
Housing discrimination

The purpose of the process is to identify solutions the City can undertake to address identified fair housing issues.

Fair Housing Survey Begins

The Fair Housing Equity Plan includes a community-wide survey where we ask Grand Rapidians about their experiences with housing access and discrimination.

In-person Engagement Opportunities

In addition to the survey, the Fair Housing Equity Plan will provide three initial public meetings where community members can learn about the plan and relevant data related to housing. Once the engagement opportunities are completed, we will post the presentations here.

Focus Groups and Interviews

The Fair Housing Equity Plan team will schedule focus group conversations with identified experts to gain an in-depth understanding of particular housing issues and barriers.
