Archdale Park Improvements
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation utilized a $4 million American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant to reinvest and improve park amenities, accessibility and connectivity.
Archdale Park, located at 1020 Archdale Drive, is 16.6 acres and now includes basketball courts, picnic shelters, a large playground, walking loop and multipurpose field. Community members participated in the visioning process through public engagement and helped inform a design that better serves the neighborhood. Public engagement and outreach was approximately an 8-month process led by the County and its consultant from Spring 2023 - Winter 2023/2024.
Construction has reached substantial completion with project closeout around Mid-Late 2026.

Note: This is a neighborhood park and walking to and from the park is encouraged.

PROJECT UPDATES
Spring 2026 - Project Update
Park and Recreation Staff, Design Consultant and Contractor participate in punch walk to inspect Archdale Park for documentation of outstanding construction related tasks.
Substantial completion is anticipated for April 2026 with project completion to follow soon after.
December 2025 - Project Update
Misting ground, play structures and artificial turf have been installed. Fine grading, ground stabilization and plant install are still in progress.
November 2025 - Project Update
Fine grading, stabilization and sport court work continues.
October 2025 - Project Update
The Park continues to take shape...
September 2025 - Project Update
The Park continues to take shape with efforts focused on grading/compaction, shelter completion, concrete forming and court surfacing.
August 2025 - Project Update
Grading/Compaction and shelter work continues.
July 2025 - Project Update
Concrete work is powering forward during this stretch of dry weather and foundation work begins on shelters.
June 2025 - Project Update
Construction efforts related to grading/compaction for site amenities continues along with concrete forming in the proposed parking lot.
May 2025 - Project Update
Stormwater infrastructure and rough grading efforts continue.
March 2025 - Project Update
Erosion and stormwater control measures are installed and rough grading commences. Tree removal within limits of disturbance continues.
February 2025 - Project Update
Archdale Park is closed, due to active construction. Project completion is anticipated for Mid-2026.
