Project Updates:

  • 12/2024:  Clearing complete and construction is 10% complete.
  • 10/2024:  Construction NTP.
  • 8/2024:  The construction contract has been awarded to J.D. Goodrum Company.
  • 7/2024:  The scope of Albemarle Road Park has been revised due to budget constraints.  Phase 1 of construction will include grading, trails, a boardwalk and site furnishings.  Phase 2 will start soon after the first phase is completed and will include a playground, fitness equipment and a small picnic shelter.  Other park amenities in the master plan, such as the community garden and the basketball court will be completed in the future pending funding availability.
  • 3/2024:  Bidding is underway!  Notice to Bidders went out 3/14/2024 and Bid Opening is schedule for 4/16/2024.
  • 1/2024:  Mecklenburg County has been working to finalize the design of Albemarle Road Park.  The permitting process is underway, and bidding is projected for Spring 2024.
  • 4/2023:  Mecklenburg County has been working hard to make improvements to Albemarle Road Park.  This Park Improvements Project involves the master plan, design and redevelopment of the park.  The original project budget allocated for this project was only for the Master Plan and the development of phase 1 (projected to include some trails and a community garden).  Thankfully, in an effort to improve park equity, the Board of County Commissioners allocated additional funds in FY2022 to this project allowing the project to evolved to include the development of most of the amenities in the master plan.  Over the past couple of years, the project team has completed the Master Plan, a Public Meeting, the site survey, some invasive species removal, overall park preliminary schematics and cost estimates, playground planning, design concepts studies and reviews, permitting pre-submittal meeting and the site plan.   Over the next 4-7 months, the design team will be finalizing the design and applying for the necessary permits to rebuild the park.
